From the Director of Military and Veteran Student Success

Good afternoon to all of our graduating veteran Knights and military-connected students!!!  We are mere weeks away from commencement and I am hopeful you are excited about completing this journey and launching into your career field.  I want you to know how excited all of us at the Military and Veteran Student Success office are for you and your team of supporters.  Whether it was family, friends, or staff at UCF…there is someone who has been your champion throughout this academic path.  Reach out to them as you approach commencement and tell them thank you for their support.

As a reminder for our student veterans – we will be holding the veteran STOLE ceremony on July 31st from 6-8pm in the Live Oak Center.  Please join us as we get a chance to celebrate you!!!

For all of our graduating military-connected Knights…you are cordially invited to meet your family, friends, and guests in the Military and Veteran Success Center following completion of your commencement ceremony.  We will have water, cake, and most importantly air conditioning available for your family, friends, and guests.  Plus, it is easier to find them inside the MVSC then strolling down E. Plaza Dr.

Again – congratulations and we look forward to seeing you soon.

UCF Student Recognized by Secretary of Veteran Affairs

During a recent interview with the Secretary of Veteran Affairs, UCF Alumni and Air Force Veteran Chris Velazquez was mentioned for his service and achievements as a military student.  “Here’s what else hasn’t changed. Like generations before, them, Veterans still make the very best students. I’m thinking of Vets like Chris Velazquez from Camden, New Jersey, who joined the Air Force because of his sense of duty, and to prepare himself for the future. After Active Duty, Chris reached out to Vet services at the University of Central Florida and used his GI Bill benefits to earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Today, Chris works on some our country’s most advanced defense systems at Lockheed Martin in Orlando.”

Congratulations Chris, thank you for your service and being a stellar representative of the University of Central Florida!
