VARC Staff Awarded 2019 SDES Team of the Year Posted Friday, May 10, 2019 @ 1:28 PM The Veterans Academic Resource Center (VARC) was honored as the 2019 Student Development and Enrollment Services (SDES) Team of the Year, during the SDES Employee Appreciation Celebration yesterday, Thursday, May 10, 2019. The SDES Team of the Year is an award that recognizes an office, department, or special project group within SDES. As part of the qualifications for the award, the group should address the goals of SDES throughout the past year. Also, the team should exhibit exceptional group cohesiveness, consolidate team effort that produces high-quality outcomes, professional development, program and/or creation of new programs. The nominator for this award wrote ” For the past nine years, the Veterans Academic Resource Center (VARC) has recognized and supported student veterans as they transitioned from military to student life…Throughout the year, the team is working on certifying over 1500 student veterans and military dependents for their VA GI Bill benefits each semester, and planning and executing an array of educational and social programs. Throughout the year they are working on different projects and celebrations to highlight our veterans and dependents on campus. The join forces with numerous offices and departments throughout the year to deliver quality services to their students and support SDES’s goals.
