The Veterans Academic Resource Center (VARC) honored UCF Graduating Student Veterans during the Spring 2019 Veterans Graduation Reception Ceremony in Classroom Building 2, Room 106 on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.

40 Graduating Student Veterans, their family members, and distinguished university faculty and staff were in attendance during the festivities.  Colonel Richard Haggerty, Program Manager for Instrumentation, Targets, Threat Simulators, and Special Operations Forces from the US Army Program Executive Office, Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO-STRI) served as the Keynote Speaker for the evening.

Student veterans who attended were honored and presented with a VARC Coin and graduating stole (designed by Student Veterans of America – UCF Chapter).  Active Members of the SALUTE National Student Veterans Honors Society were also presented their honor cord to wear for their respective commencement ceremonies over the next couple of days.

The Veterans Graduation Recognition Ceremony was an idea developed by a former VA Workstudy student, who wanted to get all the graduating student veterans together to have cake.  From this suggestion the first ceremony held in Spring 2015 and has grown bigger each semester.

In total, this semester over 150 student veterans participated in the Spring 2019 Commencement Ceremonies.

Pictures from the ceremony can be viewed on the VARC Facebook page.
