VA Updates

UDPATE:

The Department of Veterans Affairs will be sundowning the current system utilized by the Military and Veterans Success Center and all institutions of higher learning worldwide on 13 January 2023.  This system is the data collection point for information regarding semester hours, tuition/fees, and program eligibility.

IMMEDIATE IMPACT:

The immediate impact for all students using VA benefits will be felt on 1 February 2023.  Any information uploaded to the VA system after 11 January 2023 will not be processed in time to allow for payment of stipends and housing allowances on 1 February.  Payments will eventually catch up to eligible personnel, but there is no timetable when that will occur.

RECOMMENDATION:

In order to mitigate the potential financial difficulties students may encounter, it is highly recommended that you certify your Spring 2023 hours as soon as possible.  With the campus closure starting on 21 December, and the anticipated backlog of information to process upon our return on 2 January 2023, there is no guarantee that your information will be submitted prior to 13 January.

OUR ACTIONS:

The MVSC staff will be processing Spring 2023 certifications IN THE ORDER THEY ARE RECEIVED.  The sooner your information is received, the sooner we can relay that data to the VA.  We have already notified our campus partners in Student Account Services, Registrar’s Office, Financial Aid, and Housing to the possible impact on students here at UCF.

We will do our best to process your information quickly and accurately as soon as it is received.  But we can only act on information provided by you.  If you delay your submission, it will impact the processing and ultimately your receipt of stipend / housing allowances.

As more information is made available, we will keep our website (https://varc.sdes.ucf.edu/) updated.
